The Marian Smoluchowski Symposium is an annual event organised since 1988. It is named after the famous Polish physicist, whose research has contributed greatly to the development of natural sciences and gave birth to statistical physics. The conference is organised under the patronage of the Mark Kac Center for Complex System Research and the consortium of four Polish scientific institutions: the Institute of Physical Chemistry (Polish Academy of Sciences), the August Chełkowski Institute of Physics (University of Silesia), the Silesia University of Technology and the Wrocław University of Technology.
